A Fair Housing Policy was adopted by Ordinance 1599 passed by the Board of Aldermen and approved by the Mayor 09/12/1995 declaring it to be public policy to eliminate discrimination and safeguard the right of any person to sell, purchase, lease, rent, or obtain real property without regard to race, sex, color, religion or religious affiliation, handicap, familial status, or national origin. This ordinance shall be deemed an exercise of the police powers of the City of Eldon, Missouri, for the protection of the public welfare, prosperity, health and peace of the people of the City of Eldon, Missouri. Composed of 5 members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen, the committee shall investigate every complaint of violations to the policy and if there is merit to the complaint, the Fair Housing Committee will endeavor to eliminate the discriminatory practice by conference and conciliation. If such endeavors are unsuccessful, the Committee shall forward the complaint to the City Attorney for handling.
Industrial Development Authority (Bonds)
The Industrial Development Authority was created by Ordinance 946 passed by the Board of Aldermen and approved by the Mayor 02/26/1980 for the purpose of developing commercial, industrial, agricultural, and manufacturing facilities. This is a corporation with authority to issue bonds for development purposes. There are 6 members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen.
